Werner Stolze comes from a long line of piano lovers. His great-grandfather, Mt Hutzelmann, started his piano factory in Germany in the 1910s in Eisenberg and was the only piano factory after World War 2 to survive being taken over by the Nazis.
Werner’s grandfather, Kurt Stolze, together with his father Wilfried emigrated and settled in Johannesburg around 1961. Later Wilfried and his wife Sonja started Stolze Pianos as master piano builders in South Africa.
Werner Stolze, son of the late Wilfried Stolze and his mother Sonja are now the proud owners of Stolze Pianos, a business that has survived and thrived for 52 years. They specialise in grand pianos and pianos. Werner studied at W. Heuer in Stellenbosch and finished his apprenticeship with his father to qualify as a piano technician.
Werner who is well travelled spends Sundays on the cricket fields in Centurion playing Pro 20. He has been happily married for the past seven years to his wife Naomi. His passion is pianos and meeting people and he would love to start a school to teach young piano lovers the art of piano repairs. He also wants to teach music teachers and the public how to evaluate the following when choosing a second-hand piano: The frame, tuning pins and the piano action.
Werner invites you to contact him for expert advice on all your piano queries.
